The city was officially incorporated in 1956, and it remained a small, quiet town for several decades. Like many nearby cities, Colleyville experienced significant suburban growth in the 1980s and 1990s. Development boomed as the area became increasingly desirable due to its proximity to major urban centers, low crime rate, and high quality of life.
